Personally when picking a mouse, the most important part is going to be the feeling. If a $5 mouse makes you feel better than the $500 one, assuming that the build quality and sensors are the same and the only different thing is the ergonomics, I would go for the $5 one.

Some mouse also have special features such as macro keys, and a few different lighting effects (Razor Chroma), etc. Logitech's G402 (Hyperion Fury) is stated to have the best sensor in the market, as it can detect high speed movement without skipping a beat, making it crucial for competitive play. Logitech's G502 (Proteus core) also allows you to change the weight and feel of the mouse, by adding additional weights if necessary. Some mouse also have braided cables, however those are more expensive.

If you are just doing casual play, browsing the web, a $5 mouse will do the job. Gaming competitively though or for long hours though, and things will start to make a difference. Each mouse is different, and be sure to check what you need before picking up one.

Cheers!
