Upgrade Windows 7 to 10 via Virtual Machine? (convert key)

Anime4000

After googling around, Microsoft said is better install Windows 7 and upgrade.

So I think I going to upgrade my unused license key through VM, by installing Windows 7 under VM, activate, upgrade, copy new key and then deactivate.

This way is possible?

Looks like upon upgrading you'll get a generic key.

Seeing as you plan to do a fresh install on the pc anyway (at least that's what I'm reading between the lines), you might as well backup your data and use the actual Win7 install to do the upgrade.

Dang! Generic key not fun at all! :(

maybe just buy Win 10 Pro key.....

But I found Windows 10 Pro at local online store, the key just cost only ~12 USD (40 MYR), my friend did the purchase and it's activated...
