I need overlocking help

Well I have a pretty basic build, and I wanted some help overclocking it I wanted to see if anyone else had specs close to mine and if I could know what to exactly change in order to properly overclock, and how to properly test if the overclock was successful. Asus says that you can successfully get my processor to 4.5GHZ (http://rog.asus.com/184142012/maximus-motherboards/guide-overclocking-the-core-i5-3570k-to-4-5ghz-on-the-maximus-v-gene/2/).

 

Here is my rig

CPU: i5-3570k (Unlocked & Unleashed)

Ram: Crucial Ballistix 16gb kit ( 2 x 8gb) DDR3-1600

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 

GPU: GeForce GTX 650 SC (Super Clocked) 

HardDrive: WD 1TB 64M 7200 SATA3 Black Edition

PowerSupply: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500w

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932

First of all: Not every processor is the same.

 

That implies that if someone on the internet managed to overclock his CPU / GPU to XXX GHz, you don't necessarily will be able to do the same.

Seeing that you already linked a guide that is tailored to your motherboard, begs the question, why you don't just follow it.

 

Be prepared to no reach the much desired 4.5 GHz. But even 4.4 or 4.2 GHz is still very good.

it should be fine at 4.5

you can try the asus oc utility it does all the work for you

if you have a good chip that'll be easy

most likely you won't though :U good chips can be hard to come by

In most asus Mainboards you can change between some different mods like economy or turbo. If you tick "turbo" the mainboard will automaticly overclock the cpu with 0,3 ghz more
