Weird HDD Overheating Problem.

Go to solution Solved by alpenwasser,

If I've read correctly, your HDD is around 40 C now, that's nothing to worry about.

Your drive is spec'd for up to 60 deg C ambient temperature and 69 deg C drive case

temperature (page 17): http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/support/docs/manual/desktop/Barracuda%207200.12/100672652b.pdf

Although personally I try to keep my HDDs below 50 C.

EDIT:

Oh, just got your second post. That's a bit hotter, but still tolerable according

to the specs. There isn't really that much you can do besides improving ventilation

for the drive or relocating it, which I guess is not an option.

Hello guys, I finally bought an aftermarket cooler for my AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor, the Arctic Cooling Freezer A11 and it solved my noisy stock fan issue... But now another problem emerged... HDD overheating ! This came out of freaking nowhere but I suspect that the Aftermarket CPU Cooler is the culprit cause it's LARGE in a mini MOBO and micro atx case... But how an Aftermarket cooler, however large may be contribute to only HDD overheating... I dunno...someone help me please... Here a picture with the stock cooler and with the aftermarket one.

A little edit, that was the first day I installed my cooler. 3 days ago that is ... Right now, if I play games like Heroes of The Storm for hours , it climbs to like 49-51 celsius... It's ridiculous.

No problem. 45 C is not cool, but it shouldn't cause issues. My drives usually

run between 32 C and 47 C, depending on model and ambient temp.

Well I have 3 choices. I can either lift the thing from it's "hdd cage" and screw it a little higher so that it won't come in contact with the HDD cage and then secure it better with cable ties so it won't fall. Second choice is buy an HDD cooler , like some fans of some sort or otherwise relocate my HDD. Thats the  harder part , cause the case is tiny and I don't think I have room for my 3.5 HDD...thing's huge... What should I do from these 3 options? Thanks a lot!
