Hello, i've been confused lately. Let's say if motherboard can support DDR3 1600MHz RAM, it will automaticaly will run at 1600MHz max speed or less?

Example : ASRock H97M ANNIVERSARY, H97, DualDDR3-1600 . Because in my countries web page this motherboard runs at 1066MHz

i5-4690k, R9 380 4gb, 8gb-1600MHz ram, corsair vs 550w, astrock h97m anniversary.

If both the ram and motherboard support that speed than yes it should do it automaticly, if not fix it manualy inthe bios.

Btw isnt this the wrong sub forum for this question?

By default every ram stick should run at 1066MHz on that M/B.

But by setting your memory into XMP mode it will automatically run the memory on its highest speed if the board supports it.

Linus explained this in a Techquickie episode here:

Hope that helped
