Would using a rad affect overall cooling?

I have 2 140mm fans on top of my case (air 540) and I assume that sticking a rad on top with fans under the rad would affect how much air  can be exhausted therefor raising the temps of all the other components

A little bit less air would get exhausted, but it doesn't really matter that much to actual temps.

Well, if you just shove a rad in there and don't connect it to anything, it's just going to reduce the amount of air that the fans can push out of the case.

Yeah.... Are you actually introducing a water cooling solution, or just randomly putting a radiator on top?

As long as you have good fans, it won't effect things that much.

the overall heat will be less though. the marginal overall restriction may affect parts by like .5*C, but by taking 80tdp of a cpu and dumping it straight out of the case, vs just dumping it in the case, can greatly improve the overall temps of other parts.
