Hey guys, I'm working on a new build and found that the SATA leads on my PSU are a tad too short to reach the top-most 5.25" bay. Does anyone know if it's risky to use an extension, like this one from mod/smart:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/13325/cab-457/ModSmart_SATA_15_Pin_Power_Extension_Cable_-_Black_-_12_PC-S15P-12X-BK.html?tl=g2c413s1222&id=hv7HnzDF

Also, is there any risk in using a SATA splitter (such as the Silverstone CP06) and another two-way splitter (one of the Phobya Y-splitters) in addition to the extension? I'm trying to keep cable management to a minimum by using just one SATA power lead from my PSU. Specs for the system are below.

Intel Core i7 3770k

Gigabyte Sniper M3 mATX z77 mobo

Gigabyte AMD 7950 GPU

4x Seagate 7200rpm 3 TB drives

1x Seagate 7200rpm 2 TB drive

2 x SSD

750 watt 80 plus platinum PSU

Thanks in advance for replies/advice!

Speaking as an educated electronics engineer and life long techie, I can with full confidence tell you there are no risks whatsoever in using the extension or the splitter, or both at once for that matter.

That is, apart from maybe the wires getting tangled up in a fan. Remember to exercise proper cable management and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the reply, this is exactly what I was looking for. I'll be using the two splitters in my above post and a couple of extensions, so I was worried about whether that would strain the PSU leads for some reason.
