I'm using a normal WDC WD10EZEX and sometimes my disk transfer rate locks up at around 10 mb/ps and it stays like that for variable amounts of time ? It has been causing me trouble with general freezes and programs saying they're not responding, a buggy interface and almost no multitasking functionality. The only problem when that happens is that Task manager says that my hdd is working at 100%. I've checked all my other components and couldn't find any fault there? Has someone had this problem before, can someone help ?

Hey Kalevro,

I would first check the drive's health with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool and see if the problem is within the drive or elsewhere. Here's a link to the tool: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ONqKwI
I'd also check the loads on the different components of the computer in the Resource Manager during those transfers and freezes and see if anything hits 100%.
I'd also run a benchmar utility over the drive and see if it's operating with the normal speeds or something is slowing it down. :)
