I've tried updating, it does the same thing... :(

But have you tried uninstalling it and then installing it again? I know it sounds silly since it is already a fresh install but I've had times where I needed to reinstall F@H twice before it would work properly.

Hey guys! I did a lot of F@H a while back with my 4790k and Radeon 7770. I decided to stop until I got a GPU that could score better PPD than that 7770. I recently acquired a Radeon R9 280 and would love to start again, but the client simply won't let me. (Tried a few weeks ago with one of the 7770's, same issue)

 

Basically, off of a fresh install of F@H, when the web control is opened it will connect, display nothing but 'loading' then it says:

 

The Folding@home software on your computer has most likely stopped.

Please first restart it, then reload this page.

 

Restarting makes no difference. Open the F@H Advanced Client, and this message is displayed:

 

On client "local" 127.0.0.1:36330: Option 'gpu-index' has no default and is not set.

Click 'OK', and you're left with a screen that displays nothing of use, just says 'Updating' on the top bar but doesn't appear to be doing anything.

I think I found the same issue you're having here: https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=20446#p203513

 

Open advanced control, go to Configure, click on the Slots tab, Select the GPU slot, hit edit and then set the gpu-index to -1

 

Hopefully that helps :)

The only tab I have in Configure is Connection. I'm using FAHControl 7.4.4.

Ah I see, try opening the web interface, if that doesn't get it to finish updating then give it a reinstall.

Also, quick question... the 280 has a WU that is apparently going to take 2.6 days and  award me with 8000 points? should I be concerned? My 7770's did better than that... also, My i7 doesn't seem like it wants to start the WU assigned to it.... problems problems problems :D

Don't worry about that, give it a few hours to stabilise and you'll be golden.
