Headphones work Headset Doesn't

Hey all,

 

I recently had an issue were the right side speaker didn't work in my headset and when I tested some spare headphones in my PC they worked fine.

So I tried the headset in my phone just to double check, and low and behold the speaker didn't work either.

 

Ok I thought, guess I'm buying a new pair.

The new pairs just turned up, I've plugged them in and..... no sound out the right side either. 

I'm really confused at this point, I just tried the new pair in my phone again and they are only playing in the left side.

 

Whats wierd though is when I try the balance test (left side, then right side) both sounds came out the left headphone.

 

Before I send this headset back as bizzarely broken in the same way as my old headset, any thoughts that I might be overlooking?
