I've been trying to get the OpenCL rendering in Sony Vegas 13 to work but so far I'm out of luck. I have followed all possible tutorials (well basically selected AVC and checked render using OpenCL) but it just doesn't work. The CPU usage is pinned at 90+% while the GPU usage is basically idle (10%-ish). I've seen other people have this problem but I haven't found the solution yet.

I have installed the latest drivers (Catalyst 15.8) and both GPU-Z and Vegas say OpenCL is available. The GPU I have is a HD7850 and I'm running Windows 8.1.

Any ideas why it doesn't work? Is it Win8?

Also the render time for a minute of 1080p is around 4 minutes (currently) but according to the info I've found online it should be like 30 seconds

Only a few effects take advantage of the GPU, and even then it doesn't help that much.

GPU video rendering is not a thing you should rely on, stick to your CPU.

If you want faster render times, you will need all the cores you can throw at Sony Vegas.
