Not asking which to buy or anything, so you'll actually have to read my post a bit to answer, instead of just instantly saying 4770K. :P

So, I've been getting rid of my systems. Gotten rid of two so far, now I just have my ATX based system and my Mini-ITX. I don't want large form factor anymore, so I'm selling that one (4770K/Maximus Hero VI/16GB 2133/HX750i/H100i/etc).

However, there's a downside to this. I only have 4x4GB 2133 RAM and 2x4GB 2133 RAM. So I'll be going down to 8GB from 16GB and from the 4770K to the 4670K. The real question is this:

Should I spend the time to move the i7 to my ITX that I'm keeping, or leave the i5 in it and sell the i7 for the extra $50 or so? Also, should I sell ALL of my RAM to buy new 2x8GB sticks, or just stick to 8GB total? I know this is a CPU section, but this is more of a subquestion. :P

[spoiler = "My Computer Stuff"]

My ITX:

240 Air ; Z87I-Deluxe ; 4770K ; H100i ; G1 GTX 980TI ; Vengeance Pro 2400MHz (2x8GB) ; 3x 840 EVO (250GB) ; 2x WD Red Pro (4TB) ; RM650 ; 3x Dell U2414H ; G710+ ; G700s ; O2 + ODAC + Q701 ; Yamaha HTR-3066 + 5.1 Pioneer.

Things I Need To Get Off My Shelf:

250D ; 380T ; 800D ; C70 ; i7 920 ; i5 4670K ; Maximus Hero VI ; G.Skill 2133MHz (4x4GB) ; Crucial 2133MHz (2x4GB) ; Patriot 1600MHz (4x4GB) ; HX750 ; CX650M ; 2x WD Red (3TB) ; 5x 840 EVO (250GB) ; H60H100iH100i ; H100i ; VS247H-P ; K70 Reds ; K70 Blues ; K70 RGB Browns ; HD650.

It honestly depends on what you really do with it. For the purest gaming solution the i5 is more than adequate. Heres the thing that no one remembers though. Sometimes you run other things in the background. Theres no question that for the money the i5 is the best gaming solution but when you start to add in having a video open on the second screen or streaming or other things you like to do often while playing then all of a sudden that multithreading actually starts to make a difference. They both will overclock about the same so really it is just asking if hyperthreading is worth it. HT gives you about 20% more performance in heavy workloads. Completely up to you.

Just pick either 1) or 2)

1) i5 = best gaming CPU, doesn't cost a lot compare to i7 but give you plenty of power for gaming and other non productivities stuff.

2) i7 = Best " I series" CPU what Intel has to offer for productivities  stuff and medium to huge multi tasking, while price does cost cheesy but it worth it for every single peny you throw at it. However, it's not the best CPU for intense productivitiies , if you are one of those person then i recommend Xeon = big daddy go big or go home.

The other reason I'm debating this is that my 4670 does 5.1 @ 1.31v. My i7 can't even do 4.7 at anything haha.

Keep the i5 then. BTW you have really nice i5, I can get 5Ghz with 1.7v .

With that said, if you don't really do much multitasking, the i5 is most probably the one you should keep. It should run ANYTHING easily at that speed.

If HT is something that you rely on, get the i7 instead.

Holy crap. I would be terrified to put 1.7v into one of my CPUs. I wouldn't even do that to one of my old Phenom IIs.

Are you sure you haven't lit it on fire on accident?

Just pick either 1) or 2)

I'm hardly concerned about the price, I own both already. It's just which I want to keep more. I've never experienced my i5 limit me, but I have no clue if something like Star Citizen might lead to me needing the i7.

I did it only for some benchmarks. I'm not insane :D. In GPUPi CPU was at ~70°c.

I did it only for some benchmarks. It's fine for really short period of time.

I just.. I don't... There is NO WAY it was at 70C with a H60. That's just not possible. Even with an industrial 10ft. fan blowing on that radiator.

Regardless, I put the i7 in my ITX. It's ~10C hotter than the i5 across the board for load temps at the same 4.5Ghz, but I can live with that. :)

P.S. - My sig no longer lies, as it has for about two days as I've been debating where to put the i7. ;D
