I have a 2 monitor set up using an Acer G257HU (1440p) as the main monitor and a HP x2301 (1080p) as a secondary monitor.  Currently I have an EVGA SC 2GB GTX 770.  I get between 30-60fps on mid to high settings at 1440p.  I am wondering if I should upgrade to a R9 390 or just stay with what I have.  I have about a $340 budget and if I should upgrade should I get an MSI 390, Asus DCIII 390 or Sapphire Nitro 390.

Thanks for the help in advance.

It would be like going to a 970 and a bit over actually so yes, you will see a performance increase and with 2 monitors, one of which 144p, you will be able to make us of the 8 gigs of VRAM.

As for the cooler, either Asus DCIII or Sapphire, both are great in my honest opinion. Work will begin shortly on a compilation list for the different coolers' performance so you might also wait for that if you are unsure :)

If what you are running with now is okay for a little bit longer, I'd wait until you can afford a 980

Make sure you follow your posts to get replies. And I'm not sure if we can help you with that. It's just personal preference, if you have the money to spend, and you would like the nicer card, then go for it. But if you're okay with lowish framerates, then save your money for now.

If he's gonna save up for a 980, he might as well save up $100 more for a 980 ti.

Yeah, thats what I thought for the most part, was going to wait a bit anyway as I don't think Asus DCIII 390 is out yet.  Was also going to wait for windows 10s official launch to see how well drivers boost performance.

Well, we are currently working on the list of cooler performance here, feel free to add input abut the 770 and your cooler :)

If you're going to upgrade now, go for the GTX 970 instead of the R9 390. From what I've read (could be wrong) the 970 blows the R9 390 out of the water; the 390 just has more vRAM.

I run a 970 with a 1440p main monitor and 1080p secondary, and I get well above 60fps at 1440p on most games at max (or near-max) settings.

W/ Nvidia Shadowplay, I can keep and record full 60fps in Battlefield 4 on Ultra, in TF2 I get between 150 and 300 fps playing, and can hold 90-150 while recording 60fps video.

Actually, you are very much wrong. If you don't trust me, watch this

I think the 8gbs of vram would help future proof my rig so I won't need to upgrade for awhile.
