Windows 7 or 8

Hello,

I am in the process of selecting the parts for my first ever build, but I cannot decide on the operating system. I am torn between Windows 7 and 8. I will be gaming, coding, and editing videos on my computer, so I want the best OS for that. I should probably mention that I am new to Windows as well. Responses much appriceated.

windows 8 is superior to windows 7 in every way. It is simply the faster OS. If you dislike the metro UI it can all be disabled with free programs such as classic shell or if you dont mind spending a few bucks startisback is a good way to go. Basically these programs mask the crappy windows 8 metro UI so it behaves and looks just like windows 7, except its windows 8 so it's much snappier. Also, if you have an SSD it'll be that much faster.

is windows 7 even supported by the free windows 10 upgrade? To my understanding windows 8 and 8.1 is all that is being offered for free win10 upgrades but i could be wrong

 

Windwos 7 and 8.1 are both supported. 8 is not actually supported as you need the 8.1 update.
