Hey, I was wondering if someone could help me with this problem which consists in whenever I plug my GPU in my MB my PC doesn't recognize the GPU, I don't know what is happening...

I'm starting a new build but I'm using my old GPU, don't know if it is because of that tho ( doubt it)

Specs:

i5 4460 3.2Ghz

MSI H81M-P33

8Gb RAM

Nvidia GeForce 9800gt (doesn't recognize)

Halfmann PSU 650W (not sure if it can use that tho)

P.S: I've been using the internal GPU from the CPU, is it better than my actual GPU??

Plug it into your graphics card

Are you installing your graphics drivers?

it can't be, since it doesn't recognize the GPU the drivers can't be intalled, it's like the GPU isn't there, and I'm pretty sure it's plugged in well... ;-;

Why don't you just get a new GPU, it's quite likely that the GPU just decided to rest in peace.

It won't be recognized without drivers.

Are you sure it is in the PCIe slot correctly and is the power cable plugged in all the way?

Go into device manager and see if anything besides your Intel HD Graphics is detected under Display Adapters, also check under "Other devices".

Before spending a buttload of cash on a new GPU, I'd at least troubleshoot it a little bit.

I would second this but this poor GPU seems to old (unless the 9800gt was amazing, I'm quite new to PC building so I would never know).

ok, I might have noobed in this... there ain't no cables connected to the GPU, cause I legit thought there weren't any, can you tell me which one of the cables does it need? :S

The cards that I found of your variant require a 6 pin power connector.

It was pretty good back then. Idk about now.

i think that card get the power straight from the PCI-E lanes. Is there any PSU 6pin plug in the GPU?

P.S this is the driver tho http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/73218

Like, inside I don't seem to find any, but there is one thingy next to the DVIs... but it's outside, I don't think it's for that...

Have you check the Windows Device Manager?

You will want to find a cable like this. There will be a connector on the card like this, plug that in and you should be good to go. If you can't find it post several pictures here for us and we can point it out for you.

The PCIe lane only provides 75 watts for video cards, the 9800GT requires an additional 75 watts from a 6pin PCIe power cable.

Yep, there is a 6pin plug in the card. My bad  :P

I can't seem to find any, but apparently I searched on google for the 6pin in the 9800gt and some don't need one, and that's probably why mine doesn't have one... they say that the "green" one doesn't need that much power or something like that, the thing that is bothering me the most is that the GPU used to work before I installed the MB, the CPU and the RAM... I used the same PSU
