windows 8.1 lockscreen issues

on 17/07, my computer suddenly restarted in the middle of nba 2k15 for no reason. once that happened, the lock screen has been acting funny all of a sudden.

 

first off there is no white circle thing spinning after i input my password. theres nothing at all now. just my name and picture.

 

2nd it takes forever. it used to take 5 seconds to go from lockscreen to desktop screen but now it takes at least a minute. during this phase the lock cover screen appears again so i have to reopen it (some times at least twice this happens). i dont have to reenter my password but just open the cover..

 

i looked through my windows updates and apparently an update had been installed without my knowledge on that day at the time of the restart.

 

there doesnt seem to be any other effects in performance in any other aspect.

 

this is really unusual and its making me insane so any help would be appreciated
