Hey, I was wondering if it is possible to create a huge (virtual) screen resolution.
I'm using a GT 545, which supports up to 2560x1600, but using nvidia's control panel I can get this up to about 3600x1800. But I want more.
I would also like to know what a modern high-end gpu would be able to reach.
This might seem silly if you don't know why I would want it. I'm using the vrdesktop.net Oculus Rift application to create a virtual desktop.

Thanks, and ask if anyone needs more info.

A super high end GPU like a Titan X or a GTX 980 or R9 Fury X would be able to to go up loads, like 4k or more (if you could?!). A GT 545 is a bit "low end" for 4k. Well, it cant even run it. Even a GTX 970 will run 4k well on desktop, but in games a 970 on 4k would be bad.

Is this for gaming with the VR headset? If it is then you'll need to upgrade your GPU first for sure, even the mid/high range will struggle with 4k, and even then the high end 980Ti's and such don't have a smooth easy time, especially not that required for VR Gaming at that kind of a resolution because you need to keep framerates high and consistent for that

I posted a similar questing in the "Graphics Cards" section and got the answer I needed.

Here's the other post (for those in the future with the same question): http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/409384-need-someone-with-a-high-end-gpu
