They are recommending a 550w PSU the card itself pulls a lot less at around 200w depending on your work load.

Probably not much over 400 watts, it does depend on your CPU and how many other things you have in your PC. If you are really interested you can buy a power meter for fairly cheap (I got mine for less than $20AUD).

where abouts did you get yours? im sort of hoping my local bunnings would have one. my psu is 850 watts gold 80+ which is a lot for what i have now.

Just off some Australian Ebay store, as long as it isn't some sketchy knock-off you'll be right. Yeah...850 watts could do 3 970s.

 

Edit - This is very similar to the one that I got, it is supposed to handle up to 10A and 2400 watts so it should be good enough for any normal PC.
