Quite mechanical keyboard

Go to solution Solved by mgsstar,

MX Reds imo are the quietest. You could get a G710+ Cherry MX Brown keyboard because this keyboard has O-rings beneath each keycap to help dampen the noise.

Hey guys I'm looking for a quite mechanical keyboard. I need one that is quite as I record YouTube videos. I had the K90 which is an amazing keyboard but was fairly loud and my viewers hated it which I could understand. So what switches are quite and which keyboards would you advise?

Thanks in advance :)

If you LOVE fps, get Cherry MX Red switches. Quiet and linear!

Well you have quite the selection to choose from. The first thing to do would be decide what switches you would like. The quietest would be linear switches such as Cherry MX Reds and Blacks - but then you compromise the tactile feel you have with blues and Browns. If you want a tactile feel with less sound than blues but more than the reds and blacks, then Browns would be good here.

Second would be to decide what features you want, these include:

Backlight?

Numpad?

Special lay out (long enter+shift keys?)

Price

Colour scheme?

Any switch besides blues and greens are all pretty quiet but reds are probably the quietest is gets. The only thing you could do is the o ring mod and even then I'm not so sure how much that will help. You could just move your mic away from the keyboard more or something like that.

A rule of Thumb is, when you write  much, sou should be better off with Browns/Blues because those switches need less force to get to thier activation pojt. If you do want to game and make precise keystrokes Reds and Blacks are usually better, because they tend to need more force (we are talking about Gramms here.. like 10 gram difference)..

Both Categorys (Writer / Gamer) are divided into Compromise and non compromise

Blues - no compromise best typing feeling for ton writers

brown - compromise not so loud, not soo good feeling

black- no compromise, very precise, quiet

red - compromise for gamers who sometimes write, tactile, still precise and not so loud as blues
