So I've over thought this and I've ended up confusing myself. All i need to know is if I connected my router to a switch, and then all network cables to that switch instead of the router would everything be fine? Thanks.

Yes lol, but you'll be limiting bandwidth of all the connections to just that one port on the router.

 

You'll still need to connect your modem to the router though (unless you have one with it built in).

That will work perfectly! If you want to manage the switch remotely it will need an IP address however the switch should work out-of-the-box.
