What is up guys, fausty here. I just want talk about Newegg rebates. I was looking up stuff on Newegg for the build I've bean wanting to have and I've stumbled upon this sexy thing right here. I saw that it comes with $30 rebates and will only last in a limited amount of time. I'm pretty new to this stuff so to those who whave experience with rebates in general my questions become: how does this work? How long will it take for me to get the rebates? Will I be able to save more if i get the rebates?

EDIT:

My understanding with this rebates is that, I will have to purchase the product first then have the coupon cut out that came with it then mail the coupon along with the rebate for to the company. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice avatar pic.

You're basically correct, note that rebates differ from company to company whereas some are great about their mail-in rebates, others are not. Not sure about corsair.

A general rule would be factor in the full price as what you're paying, before banking on a rebate.

You usually just have to put the original UPC code in with your request form, as well as a copy of the packing slip.

Full info on your product's rebate here

Rebates vary from company to company, some will be quick about it, and others you may never hear back from, so don't rely on rebates to come through.

That is a great deal to be honest, not sure why shipping is over ten dollars though

I usually don't bother with mail-in rebates, just because I don't feel like cutting up my product's packaging just to send in a UPC code and wait 3 months to get 10 bucks back...  By that time it doesn't even matter anymore.

I have gotten every rebate I've ever put in for across many different companies, including corsair. My average wait time is mostly 1+ month(s). Some of them take a LONG time. I got Norton AV for free with rebate from NewEgg one time. I bought it in January, a few months go by and I essentially right it off. Then one day in April I came home surprised to find a $45 prepaid card in the mail.

I would not let rebates play a huge factor in product choice, just think of it as a bonus.

When I built my first gaming rig way back when  (late 07') companies were rebate crazy. I payed around 750 for all the components and got about $200 back in rebates. Got every one of them. I made sure to pair components up with other components that got extra rebates/money off.
