Solid works Crash

Go to solution Solved by lani100,

Okay So i am helping a classmate with Solid Works x64 2014 and what happens is he will start the program, begin sketching then the program will "encounter a problem" and crash,  Does anyone know what this could be or have dealt with this themselves? he does not have his CPU overclocked so it is not that problem, he has it on a new lenovo laptop and i dont know the model.  I tried having him reinstall it, and my guess was that his cpu could be overheating and throttling but that is not the problem either.  So if anyone knows please share you ideas!

Enable Intel virtualization in the BIOS and check the ram usage in taskmanager.

Run the program as admin.

and its just strange because it runs fine on my desktop (albeit that my desktop is a lot beefier) but i have to say solidworks as a program is just awful compared to AutoCAD or inventor

Yup but it could also be software related so it's a bit early to say that.

Since it's a new laptop I assume he uses Windows 8.1 if so he will need Solid works 2014 with sp1. Also try updating the gpu drivers and try to run the laptop in high performance mode.

yeah the first fix was succesful thank you!
