I posted a topic similar a few days ago but I wanted to redo the question, I want to know what the most important pieces of hardware are for 3D applications and what some suggested parts would be. Now keep in mind this is going to be dedicated 3D, so other then that....Go Nuts!....within reason as this is just mainly for me to get an idea and a price point of something basic and something more professional. Thanks in advanced

Rendering 3d animation is reliant on the cpu.

High-poly modeling needs a bit of vram for the gpu.

A workstation graphics card can be useful for some application features.

It'll come down to how heavy your renders are, how complicated your models are, and what features you need.

So what would some examples be so I can get a better idea as I'm quite unfamiliar with workstation components.

Sorry but i'm not really sure where to start.

It might help if you just described what kind of projects you intend to work on.

Alright, it would be basic modeling, though it would mainly be used for animation and rendering

Any examples or descriptions of the animation/renders?

Programs used and settings used?

Currently it's Autodesk software and I haven't really gotten into 3D to much yet so I've been using spartan models from the Halo games, and because I'm not that familiar I haven't gotten into the settings that much

From what it seems so far, anything that's not crap should be fine--something like a modern Celeron with 4-8GB ram shouldn't have an issue.

What kind of content are you working on?

Not much right now, lol xD. But it's going to be more animation currently if I've understood correctly.

Any examples? Are you taking classes or is it just something you're doing on the side?

Not much right now, lol xD. And what do you mean by "content" like animation and modeling because that's what I'll be working on eventually

Edit: forget this one

Content as in student film/youtube videos/game animation/etc. (where the animation and modeling fits in)

This is something I'll be taking classes for, but right now it's something I've been trying to do but issues have been presenting their-selves so I've been halted badly and options I've been given haven't done much. And I'm still trying to find what content I'm going to create though currently I've been trying to do game animation

Game animation usually isn't that heavy. If you're starting to take classes, a modern i3, FX 6300, or something better coupled with 8GB ram should be fine. A decent graphics card would also be useful for 'studying' games. ;)

Thanks! Well with my current build for some reason I have bad freezing issues when trying to change colours/edit the spartan models for some reason. Solutions other users have proposed haven't helped that much sadly. I could set up a download if you want to see if you could figure something out but I at a loss, xD

That might have to do with just knowing how to use the program instead of not having hardware that's powerful enough.
