Hello all,

This is my first PC build and I could not be happier with it. I am slowly transitioning from Xbox gaming, and would like to be able to compete in League and CS:GO. I also fart around on Photoshop, and would like to stream PC and Xbox games. Please let me know if you see any weak links and/or let me know if you think I should upgrade something. Also, please let me know what you think of my build (both good and bad).

Thanks

I love this red and black theme, I've made one yesterday for a friend!

good job on everything, this will max out pretty much all games in 1080p over 60fps and league and csgo will be beyond 250+ FPS Im sure

I love the look and color coordination with sleeved cables.  Very nice!  How do you find the cooling performs?  I've put a lot of thought into getting an H440 case, but decided the airflow was too restricted.  I'd love to hear how it's worked for you.

Also, why not showcase your SSD as well?  Too bad the stickers don't match the color scheme, but you could print something custom and stick it over top.  Perhaps some Asus ROG branding, or some other graphic that matches the color.  Or simply remove the sticker entirely.  Or perhaps paint it?

money wasted on the WD black, seagate would have been a better and cheaper choice #seagatemasterrace #it's 30 pounds less

no way you're gonna use 750W of power, unless you're planning to SLI later

get rid of the stock fans on the H100, get square framed fans that don't leak the air pressure out. Noctua NF-F12, CM Silencio 120 etc

Whoops. I got the blue. $50 for 1TB isn't bad. Also, I'd rather have more than enough wattage and have room to grow. I didn't install the OEM fans. I only have Corsair 120SP quiet edition in my case

Thank you! Is there a good benchmark I could do to help? I was also worried about the cooling with the case, which I'm sure it'll lack a bit compared to other cases. I have installed all Corsair 120SP fans and I sit around 25*c at idle and about 40*c while gaming. I chose the case, because 1. I love black and red and 2. it hides the PSU.

Another 980? Bigger ssd? What fps does csgo run on this monster?

A bigger SSD would be nice! I'm not sure if another 980 would benefit now. I will check on the FPS tonight!

I got £50 for 2TB

SP120's wills till leak pressure. You want a square framed fan or a rubber gasket to seal it if you want the best performance out of that rad. One of the reasons I went for the Nepton 240m in the first place.

Nice. Yes I already had the fans and originally had an H80i, but wasn't happy. I plan on trying some gaskets. I have seen a Coolerguys gasket. I will do some testing

you must have bad seagates, i use them, the media center uses them, my family uses them. years. only one has failed and that's from a PSU failure, so not directly the fault of the drive

mine would always start this... *TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK* and the temp one i have in my laptop at the moment currently beeps at me randomly.. a very loud digital beep. #segatehatesme xD

Fill the SSD up, add another, don't constantly write to it and you should be fine, reads are not as rough as writes, plus with the price of high capacity SSD's thats basically the way you would have to do it to be cost effective, On my current build I will be using 360gb worth of SSD for OS, games and programs and a TB external for media storage such as movies, music, sound samples, pictures ect

This is coming from some who has bought many seagates and western digital blacks. I once had to RMA 8 seagate drives in one week. WD blacks and RE4s are miles better. HGST is probably the best. #seagatesforidiots. Look up the statistics seagates fail like crazy. I know of data center were they bought a bunch of seagate drives for their new servers and one failed every 3 hours or so.

The only seagate I've had is an old school external drive. Was kind of noisy

Good build go ahead and get yourself some cable combs and tidy up what looks to be a stray fan wire and you will have it.

Thanks! I actually have combs on the way :) and I think you are talking about the power switch I added for the LED's. I need to pull it back out and extend it so I can tuck it more :/ Thanks again!

  • 3 weeks later...

Added updated pictures. Debating whether to add more ram. Any thoughts? Mostly used for gaming. I usually have a stream going on the right screen while I play. Light photoshop editing, and I also would like to stream eventually. Think upgrading ram will be worth it/noticeable?
