Hi everyone,

I just recently bought a new pc and what's weird is when I use my Windows 7 64 bit Ultiimate cd to install the OS into the SSD, when loaded from the CD it freezes sometimes in the "Starting Windows" screen, the one with the glowing logo and black background. I have to reboot manually the pc. I managed then to install the OS into the SSD after trying for several times, but just after the installation when it restarts so we can enter windows, it freezes again in the same screen. And sometimes the "Starting windows" screen doesnt even show up, it simply shows a "_" on the top left corner and doesnt go much further than that. I switched the boot drive to the SSD where I installed windows obviously. Nothing in the bios was changed besides that.

You guys have any idea of what it might be? It's damn frustrating!

Next I list the hardware I have.

i7 5960x

sli gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 980 ti

32gb ram gskill 2400mhz

asus rampage V extreme

power supply corsair ax860

ssd samsung evo 256gb

ssd samsung evo 500gb

hdd western digital 1tb

hdd western digital 3tb

The OS is being installed to the 256gb ssd.

First is it pirated because it might be a bad download

Second i think the 8.1 works better with such stuff but i dont think that is the problem

you are actually on to something. My laptop runs great with vista, crashes with 7, runs great with 8 and 10.

@OP Win 8 with classic shell to replace the startmenu is awesome.
