Setting up memory.

I understand these topics but think it would be good to have a discussion about them. I would call this an FAQ but as the number of questions is so limited it isn't really. If you have your own FAQs about memory then put them here I guess.

- Whats ganged and un-ganged mode on memory.

- Will Ram automatically be set up as dual channel, etc or will you have to change that in the BIOS?

- What channel is it best to populate first on your motherboard. I know on my motherboard one is specifically better (Crosshair IV) but would this be the same on other motherboards?

- Uses of memory when you have an abundance. (I can think of two which are related to each other)

It should automatically set up as dual channel, but you can just check CPU-Z

Read your manual to figure out which slots the memory should go in. Or look at the labels on the board, it usually goes in slots 1 and 2.

With ganged and un-ganged mode, it's essentially for specifying the memory bandwidth, dual vs single channel respectively.

Is running my cup i7 920 @ 3.67 with ram @1454 7-7-7-20 or cpu @ 4.02 with 1178 7-7-7-20. These two setting i found to be stable. Which will give an overall better performance?
