Hello!

I want to upgrade my GPU in the near future, and right now I don't really have any solid leads on what to buy. I have seen a lot of solid reviews for the R9 290, but I don't know if I can x-fire 2 cheaper cards to get as good or better performance for less. I plan to only game on this pc, I have a 600 dollar budget but would prefer not to spend it all. Please help! Thank you!!

I wouldn't Crossfire 2 cheaper cards just to get upto one GPU performance personally, I'd just go with the R9 290 and be happy with that.

you have a 600$ budget for the entire PC though? O_o

I have already built a PC, it runs and preforms well but is not providing the requirements I want it to meet. (High FPS on great settings). I don't want to spend it all because I am planning on getting a 3TB HDD for more storage. Currently the 290 is 25% off, so if it is worth it and there are not any posing issues that you know of, I do want to buy it.

What R9 290 is it though? cause i wouldn't want to get one with the reference cooler as i seen it doesn't perform that well and is rather loud. though 25% off seems rather tempting, maybe it's a stock clearence to make space for the new fury cards.

I can't find the exact one I found yesterday, but this is as close as I can get: http://amzn.to/1ftVlmd

There isn't much difference between the 290 vs 290x, is there? Which one is better? Which one should I look for?

That's a reference cooler and i would probably avoid that :<. plus that card is rather expensive O-o.

Would this help you out maybe? :)

I think the 290x has a bit of an edge over the 290, but nothing spectacularly much.

Please do not buy a reference 290/X. There is a small difference between the 290 and 290X, the 290X has more stream processes which makes it faster than the 290. Depending on price you should try to go for the 290X.
