Need help planning for a budget build

Need help planning  for a budget build for my birthday this september, I need the price to be below $1000; not just a couple $ below. I want it to do gaming at 1080p easily, not 4k. I have nothing that can display 4k. I want it to be fast with an ssd that I already have, so the boot drive is already covered (it's either 120GB or 128GB ssd). I do need a storage drive though. I also need the PSU to be efficient for power drawing from the outlet. Although, if needed, I can do a better ssd boot drive (but only if needed). I am straight intel and nvidia because of features and gpu horsepower. So I think that a gtx 960 would be good, and either an i5 or i7. What do you guys think?? Thanks for any help!!!!

I7-6700k, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, 2 x 8GB Corsair Dominator Plantinum ram, ASUS GTX 960 STRIX, sound blaster zx, 1TB boot drive ssd, 128GB/256GB storage ssd, 1TB storage HDD, 4TB of storage (backup),Windows 10 Pro,1000w psu
