I have now installed all my drivers.

However the Windows Update keeps failing.

I keep getting a "Error 643".

I looked it up online and found these instructions:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976982/en-us

The first one said my OS wasn't supported or something like that.

I tried the second method. Ran "NetFxRepairTool.exe" it did whatever it needed to do. It asked me to re-install the .NET framework. I assume this is from the Windows update but the only update there which isn't installing, is "Security Update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (KB2977320)"

Any help?

UPDATE: I did not reinstall. I found a solution and pasted it in http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_update/windows-update-components-must-be-repaired-windows/a2b3913c-d117-4824-95c3-a07f85ceb39c?tm=1435957973485

However as I mentioned in the question in the link, I have another issue with windows update.

"I have just installed a fresh version of Windows 8.1 on my Desktop.

After installing all of my drivers (I built this PC), I went to do install the Windows Updates. All of them installed except "Security Update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (KB2977320)" and it displayed an "Error 643".

After trying various things, I installed http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=22

After installing that, more updates were available and got installed, the above error went away and the security update was installed. So I now have all Windows updates finally and thankfully installed.

Except when I go to control panel, "Find and Fix Problems", "Fix problems with Windows update". The result is: "Windows Update components must be repaired" - "Fixed".

It would be "fixed" if it wasn't for the fact that it says it has fixed that problem every time I run it.

Is there something wrong? Or shall I ignore this?"
