Hey guys, I'm planning a new build and I really need your help. I'm basing a silent build loosely off of Linus's Silent Build Guide, same case, fans, CPU. I have to change some things to stay under $2500.

The following link takes you to PCPartPicker, which is a website for matching PC parts for compatibility and lowest price:

https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

I'm planning on buying this in waves. This is so that I can actively save my wallet from certain death and make sure I can check for DOA's as soon as they arrive.

1st wave-CPU, CPU Cooler, Power Supply, Motherboard, RAM

2nd Wave-Case, RAM (Another 16 gig kit), and SSD

3rd Wave-Video Card (Second most expensive part, but I'm expect the price to go down unlike the 5960x because I'm buying next year)

4th Wave (Optional)- While Samsung SSD's are amazing, or so I've heard, I've had an uneasy eye on the Mushkin Scorpiun 960 gig PCI SSD cause I want the system to be a little Macbooky.

I would really value your opinion on different parts, either more cost-effective or silent. Normally I would be concerned about looks, but the case has no side panel window. At the same time, I still like things to look neat. I really want to keep costs down. I want to start purchasing the parts by 2016 and continue buying until 2017. I expect the prices on the components to come down significantly and I'm going to change to what's most recent.

I'm planning on running a single 4K monitor on games like Witcher 3, Need For Speed, Far Cry, Battlefield, as well as indie titles.

Video Editing on Adobe Premiere and rendering on After Effects.

I also want bragging rights. I mean my friends would drool at the sight of a 5960x.

Sorry, I forgot about that, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2

What on earth are you doing with a 980Ti? Just go with an ordinary 980 and a Sabertooth X99 or X99- Deluxe Mobo?

Gaming on 4k a lot. I even plan on overclocking if possible.

I went the MSI one because it was the cheapest X99 board.

Thanks, do you have a completed build with pics on the site? I would love to see them.

How hard was over clocking the 5960x? I've seen youtube videos of CPU's exploding and I'm getting really paranoid.

It was extremely easy. Mine will do an easy 4 Ghz with 1.05 Volts and 4.6 Ghz with 1.4 Volts, but I wouldn't keep it at 1.4 Volts for too long.

I'm really conservative with my overclocks, I'd keep it around 4 Ghz too. Thanks for helping so much, I posted the same build on PCPartPicker and one guy talked about CPU Coolers, that's it.

One final question: How fast is the SM951? Like in real-world usage, I really don't care a lot about synthetic PC stress tests.

Around 5 second boot and ~1 GB/s File Transfer to and from computer to NAS via 10Gbit Cat 6 Network Cable
