Hey,

I am currently searching for a case fan which will be used as a rear exhaust. I will probably do not have it temperature controlled but run it of one of those unregulated 'Power Fan' headers since I want it to especially push the heat generated by the GPU out of the case. My main concern is that I want it to be siltent, which is why I'd like a sub 800rpm fan and might pair it with a low-noise adapter. When one asks for silent fans in this forum, everybody goes 'Noctua, Noctua!' like the gulls in Finding Nemo... Yet, I'd like to not spent a fortune on this^^ The Noctua NF-S12B redux-700 however is only 14 bucks on amazon, which sounds reasonable for a reasonable quiet fan. Anybody got any experience with these or can recommendate any other quiet, cheap, suitable fans? (in that order^^) Or tell me that the whole idea is utter nonsense  :D

Rear exhaust is not something to sweat about, im sure that fan will be quiet and move a reasonable amount of air. In general i rather get more pressure optimized fans since you can resuse them for almost anything, but, that fan will do the job quietly and it's a noctua and that's a feature on it's own when it comes to reliability and overall quality.

I just realized this:

the NF-S12B is ~14 € on Amazon, + ~ 5 for the LNA

the Noctua NF-S12A ULN is 20€ on Amazon, is non redux and includes a ULN

the Noctua NF-S12A FLX is 20€ on Amazon, is non redux and includes both a LNA & ULN

This...does make sense
