Hello everybody, I currently own the following configuration:

Q9550 overclocked to 3.83Ghz, in a Seidon 240M

Rampage formula

Gtx 760 2gb

8gb ram Ddr2 in 900MHz

one of the Corsair TX650

All this in a HAF932

Well, the deal is this, I have this PC for 6 years already, taking the video card I bought last year. Only the power supply is no longer delivering the correct voltages to the motherboard, and recently had a problem with the also memories that were not recognized in blue slots ...

It made me very sad, so I decided it was time to upgrade.

I started researching a few things, and set up the following configuration:

ASROCK FATAL1TY H97 KILLER

Corsair CS550M

Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600mhz

The processor I am still in doubt between a I5 4460, and I3 4150

The rest video card, hd, I will use what I have here because it is still new

The purpose would be to play games, I know I5 will always be better than the i3 However, the i3 is cheaper and it would be better for me save money, my fear is to launch a game that only run on processors with 4 cores physical, as in the case of some recently ...

Finally, another doubt I have is whether to have a better performance if I do this upgrade, or will change little.

The upgrade will cost around $ 600 (2,000 Brazilian real in my case, because I live in Brazil)

But overall this is it, I ask your help to take my doubts.

Thank you in advance, and excuse me for bad English, as I said I'm from Brazil

i5 4460 is a much better choice if you can afford it, rest of your build will work quite well and you will see a drastic improvement. I went from a QX9650 to my 4670k and definitely have no regrets.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

as far as i know are the i3 for office operation, but don't quote me on that. But the i5 is definitely the better option for gaming. My i5-3550 is still fine for modern games. Maybe, if you are on a budget, look for older i5 generation, because getting a i3 isn't recommendable. You would need to upgrade soon again and probably you aren't even happy now with it.
