I've been hitting my head against the wall for the past day trying to fix this but nothing seems to work, I posted another thread with this mentioned in it yesterday along with several other problems my new computer had and it got fixed... temporarily. now the problem is back and the old fix isn't working. Whenever I try to listen to a YouTube video I get a weird echo effect, not in that the sound is repeated again a bit behind to create an effect like a round in sheet music, but more of an echo that you get in a large cavern or tunnel, where it sounds like I am listening to the speaker in the video in a large open room.

I have tried: updating sound drivers, restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling, making sure all other sound drivers are uninstalled and/or disabled besides the one I am using in the playback tab in the sound options, as well as uninstalling all sound drivers and reinstalling them, making sure everything is up to date for other software on the computer, switching browsers, and trying various plugins (which were removed after showing no results so as not to interfere with future "fixes").

any ideas on how to solve this problem?

I am running windows 8.1 on a MSI ghost pro 4k.

1. Right click the speaker next to the clock in your taskbar

2. Click playback devices

3. Click your default/faulty playback device

4. Click properties

5. Click the "adjustments" or "enhancements" tab

6. Click disable all

7. Click OK

8. ??

9. Profit!

It's not a windows  exclusive problem for sure,  my Android phone is a Samsung S 6, I can't stand the Auditorium setting, thats what it sounds like, from windows. I tried to all the fixes, nothing. I just visit YouTube much less.

Has this been resolved? If so, what is the fix? My girlfriend has the same issue on her new work PC.

If her computer is using a Realtek chipset for its audio, tell her to open Control Panel and launch Realtek HD Audio Manager from there, go to the Speakers/Digital Output tab and then to Sound Effects, from the Environment drop-down list select Disable

Desktop: HP Z220 Workstation, 12 GB RAM, 2x500 GB HDD RAID0, + GTX 1060 3GB

Laptop: ThinkPad T430, 8 GB RAM, 1x120 GB SSD

I had this problem and just fixed it.

In the sounds > Recording tab I had "stereo mix" enabled. I disabled it and PRESTO echo gone.

Thank you. This worked for me. In other words, I had to disable one of the microphones.
