GTX980 OC

EJ993

Hi!

So I just have tried to overclock my reference 980 and I think I did pretty good. I have +200core and +400memory. Core clock is at 1466mhz and memory is at 3903.

Just did fire strike extreme test and got 6767 and 7325 for graphics score.

What do you think guys?

Sounds good to me, see if you can push memory a bit further and core a bit further if possible.

That's good so far though!

I did that, I tried to +250 +500 and the got driver issue message, after that I decreased to +225 +450 and everything seemed to be ok, even ran stress test for 20mins, but then after that game just crashed. Im not sure if thats gpu mistake, It might just game bug or something, but anyways I went down to +200 +400. Pretty happy with the results!

I haven't change any voltages or anything, just changed maximum power consumption to 125%.

This was my first attempt to overclock gpu, so I'm not sure if this would do any harm to my gpu?

being a reference card what are your temps like?

no matter how much I overclock temps stay at 84-85degrees max, only fan speed changes. I have fan curve set to stock.

Na you're not hurting anything, it's all good.  If you increase the fan speed more, it should help keep your overclock stable at higher speeds.  GPU's really like to overclock well when they're colder in my experience.

I just got my 980 today, I been playing with it a bit and overclocking some.  I got a waterblock with it but I need to get a few more parts before I can watercool it.

Should I be worried about these temps?

I traded my 780 ti Classified + $150 for a binned 980 Classified & EK waterblock a few days ago, it just showed up a few hours ago.

It runs so much cooler than my 780 ti did, and I'm gaining some performance since my 780 ti didn't like to OC very well on stock cooling, and this thing OC's like a boss :D
