So I'm going to start my A-Levels next year and have been told that I can't take computing or Graphic design so I have to rethink what i want to do.

I want to focus on computer-based subjects but I want a diverse set of skills.

What would you all suggest? Maybe you know from past experience what it would be best to go towards?

I can give a website with the list of courses on that I can do. I'm also doing Engineering and Business.

May i ask why you can't take computing or graphics?

EDIT: As the other guys have said, maths and physics would be a really good choice; when i was taking my subjects i basically chose three which would be a strong choice for what i wanted to do at uni, and then one other which i loved and wasn't really related (plus i needed to take four); those ended up being maths, physics, computing and history. Then i didn't end up doing A-Levels and went to do a lvl 3 Diploma in IT (starting the extended next year), no idea why i changed my mind though, kinda wish i stuck with A-Levels now.

Maths is usually recommended, I did it and I'm going on to do CS next year at uni, however it is bloody hard, the toughest exams I've ever done. Physics as well, due to it being a maths based A level, is a solid recommendation. Even ICT would probably be worth doing, something I regret not taking.

I'm doing Computer Science at the moment, just finished my second year.

For A-levels, I did Maths, Computing and Physics, with Chemistry as an AS-Level.

If you want to do actual Computer Science, then I'd reccommend basically anything related to maths.

Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster and basically every other Uni I looked at wanted a grade in Maths (An A for the good unis, B for the rest)

They then usually had a preference for other math related courses. Liverpool I think it was even dropped the entry reqs if you did entirely Maths/Comp based stuff.

Of the top of my head, at my sixth-form atleast, thats Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Computing, Statistics.

All that said, if you don't want to do Comp Sci, and aren't interested in the maths and theoretical side of it all, most Unis also do a course without the maths in. ICT, Applied Comp Sci or some other names.

No maths requirements, no real requirements at all except an obvious interest in the area.

At my Uni atleast, its the exact same course, except when I do maths related stuff, ie Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms, ADT, Cryptography, Stats etcetc the ICT course does other modules.

I've not done any web dev, but they do that in some of the other modules, as well as some stuff related to other none Maths related stuff.

Basically, Comp Sci for the Maths + Very Theoretical Side. Take Math-sy courses.

ICT has all the software eng, networking, everything, cept the maths stuff. No real course reqs, but anything to show your interest helps. ICT etc
