Hello,

I would like a final input on my build. The only thing I can see possibly changing is my case and PSU. Does everything look compatible with one another? Does anyone have any thing they would personally change? Note that this computer's main priority is gaming. I am right at my budget. Also, I don't need an OS or HDD/SSD, as I am getting those from my old computer.

Thanks so much!!

pretty well balanced, though you can get a cheaper motherboard.

Thanks everyone! I expected comments on the board. I wanted a full ATX board because of the extra expansion slots. I also wanted a GIGABYTE or Asus board. Believe it or not, according to PCPP, that board is the cheapest, despite it being Z97. I guess if I for some reason buy a K i5 to overclock, now I can.

looks good but maybe 1600mhz ram instead of 1866 since it looks good on paper but may require more volts

Could you explain more? The motherboard can handle much higher mhz ram when overclocked, what is are the cons of doing this? The power supply will surely be able to power it, so if the motherboard supports it, won't I be good?

550w GS and a S340 and your fine with me

550W PSU? Could you expand more, as I am not sure what GS means. What is an S340? Sorry that I'm so clueless!

evga 550w GS is a really high quality psu and the s340 is a great case

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

the s340 is a case from NZXT. the speed of the ram isn't worth it but won't be a problem

Thanks!! 550W is suitable for my build? I was a bit worried, as my graphics card should suck a fair amount of power from the PSU. I'll check out the case too!

The 1600Mz RAM I was going to get was like $47.99, so I figured for a couple more dollars I don't mind upgrading the speed. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help guys. Also, while I am not 100% decided on case and PSU, I saw this message on PCPP. I assume 4 extra millimeters won't make a huge difference, but I will need my drive bays for an SSD, HDD, and DVD-RW drive. Should I be worried?

  • The NZXT Phantom 240 ATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 400mm long, but video cards over 290mm may block drive bays. Since the XFX Radeon R9 280 3GB Black Edition Double Dissipation Video Card is 294mm long, some drive bays may not be usable.

According to PCPP, the 550 GS from EVGA is about $59.99. The Antec is $52. I want some modular capabilities, which they both offer. The Antec is 620W though. I already think $52 is pretty expensive for a PSU, as I've had luck with cheaper models. Is it worth spending the extra $8 to get the EVGA PSU? Do you possibly have another recommendation? I've never used modular, so I assume it's nice for cable management, but I don't absolutely need it to be modular.

Thanks!
