Hello guys,

I want to upgrade my old system to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7... since it is old system (Core2Duo,9800GT,4GB DDR2) will it be better? I was searching all over the internet and most people say windows 8.1 is ligther on resources (less ram usage) etc. while some strongly dissagree on that. Which of that is true?

Also I was looking drivers for my mobo and I've noticed there are no drivers for On-Board LAN... what does it actually mean? Will I be able to have internet connection on windows 8.1 (RJ45 not wireless)

I ran Windows Upgrade Assistant and only issue it found was this: Secure Boot isn't compatible with your PC

Your PC's firmware doesn't support Secure Boot so you won't be able to use it in Windows 8.1. Which I don't mind.

Stick with windows 7 and upgrade to windows 10 for free when the time comes, dont waste 80 or whatever windows 8 costs.

If the onboard lan doesn't work it is not that much of a deal because you can just pick up a gigabit lan card for around $9 for a pci and $12 for a pcie so no big deal.
