Help RAM does not work

Go to solution Solved by Gikero,

That is desktop memory, but it is also registered memory. I feel like normal, consumer class RAM is unregistered.

Edit: Pulled from Wikipedia: "registered memory will not work in a motherboard not designed for it, and vice versa. Some PCs will accept registered memory, but registered and unregistered memory cannot be mixed."

Quoted from Ebay page: "This auction is for an 8GB memory chip. I upgraded my servers. This has only been is use for 6 months and works great. Please make sure that this is the correct RAM. Any quesions please email me. thanks"

The key word there is "Server"...ECC RAM is meant for server class motherboards and straight up wont work in the VAST majority, if not all, non server motherboards...if it doesnt have a heat spreader Id just assume its Server RAM and stay away from it :P
