16GB of RAM is generally best. A GTX 980ti will carry you on for quite a while and beats out the Titan X. And an i7 4790k with a Z87/Z97 board for the best around for gaming and any application you want to run. But if an i7 still feels a bit overkill an i5 4690k on a Z87/Z97 board is topnotch.  I personally love Z87 boards so I personally recommend a Z87. Other than that, a 500GB SSD and 600w or > modular power supply is where it's at. Case and form factor is up to you.
