So i was looking at another thread on this forum and it was about uptime.

So I casually checked mine for fun and in doing so i discovered that only 8gb (out of my 16gb kit) is being used!

It even says I have only used 2 out of 8 slots, even though I have 4 ram sticks installed in my computer.

I'm not sure what i did wrong. My ram sticks are placed evenly apart. (Like described in most LTT build videos), so I think they might just be put in wrong? I'm not sure

Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advanced!

Specs that might help:

Asus x99 pro/usb 3.1

i7 5820k not OC'd (Yet ;))

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb ram kit running at 2666MHz

Dead Kit?

Was it at 16 before?

Try to cycle through all the sticks and find which ones don't work .

CPU: i5 6600k OCed to 4.5Ghz @ 1.35v, GPU: R9 390 Nitro, Motherboard: Asus z170-A, CPU Cooler: H100i GTX, RAM: HyperX 2x8 16gb DDR4, PSU: Seasonic x650, Storage: 850 EVO 500gb, WD 1tb blue, Case: H440 White/Black

Since you're on X99 and mobos have 8 slots , did you make sure you followed the instructions in your motherboard manual on how to fill them with only 4 sticks ? Not all of them are the same .

I just checked, it says to put them in a1, b1,c1,and d1. Which is what I have going right now.

I had a similar issue on my ASRock motherboard. RAM was recognized when put into slots A2 and B2 but not A1 and B1. I flashed the BIOS by getting the latest version from ASRock's website and it worked perfectly after that.
