I've created a wall of text build log for my build here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/391635-phoenix-a-budget-gamers-pc/

tl;dr version:

AMD FX-4300

MSI 970 Gaming

MSI R9 270x 2G

4GB Kingston HyperX Savage @ 1600

200GB of storage from a couple of spare drives I had around

3 of 5 case fans in a Corsair Carbide Spec-01

Things I want to upgrade:

The CPU, since I don't want to be stuck with a quad-core for more than a couple of years. Thinking of an FX-8350 sometime next year

Definitely more memory, so a second 4Gb stick will have to do for now.

Cooling: getting two Corsair AF120 High Airflow which will be mounted as intakes

Storage: 120Gb SSD, a 1Tb HDD

CPU cooling. I was initially thinking I could get a cheapo heatsink and then upgrade to an AIO when I get the new CPU in, but then it dawned upon me that it might just be a waste of money, since the stock cooler (although crappy) does its job fairly well for what I need.

I need some advice in what regards the SSD, HDD and the CPU cooling, since I'm pretty much out of ideas at this point and everything seems either weaksauce (performance-wise) or out of my budget (which is funny, since I don't actually have a budget right now)

currently no budget is set, since I'll be buying parts as I go, paycheck by paycheck and for the more expensive ones I'll just set money aside until I can afford them

Im guessing this is for gaming? Want to play the latest games? If so, I suggest first to sell your CPU and mobo as used then saving to buy an i5-4590 with a B85 mobo. Another cheaper upgrade is getting another exact 4GB memory module for dual channel 8GB RAM. Web browsing by itself will benefit from the extra RAM and ofcourse games.

selling the components is out of the discussion, since I just got them. I'll be upgrading the CPU later (seems you haven't bothered reading the post)
