I just got back with my new Seasonic S12G 750W PSU after replacing my Thermaltake 630W for coil whine.

My question is, how long does it take for it to settle in since there is a slight buzz or is that normal?

You really can't do much for coil whine once you get it.

you misunderstood me, I replaced my whining PSU. The one am using atm is brand spanking new. I've heard it takes a week or so for them to settle in sometimes.

chances are its settled and you are sensitive to coil whine or just very bad luck. It may very well go away. It can be one part or the mix or parts that make it. Kinda like a hum or low buzz sometimes it can be very high pitch.

Well I can already tell it's gotten slightly quieter than 1 hour ago.

cool, then theres hope.

Mind you, I can only hear it with my ear flat against the exhaust. I doubt it's coil whine, not with seasonic and asus anyway.

that could just be noise from caps or voltage regulators doing their job, i wouldn't stress about it.

Probably yes, + Fan spinning. I mean, with my old one it was high pitched whine, electrical clicking, 12V rail would dip to 11.7. Now it's 12.05 at least.

thats much better then. Some parts may whine under high load aswell. Depending on what my gpu was doing it could be horrible, i would leave the room. If that happens invest in nice headphones.
