Help with Motherboard selection

Hi All,

 

I am about to start a new build and i've run accross a problem with the motherboard selection.

 

I want a red & black board and was originally going to go for the ASUS Maximus VI Extreme, however i've recently run accross a some reviews that would imply that the board isn't really up to the job (especially given the price). Budget isn't an issue, but i'd like to hear if anyone has any first hand experience of this board or could perhaps recommend another.

 

Again, it needs to be red + black and Z87 chipset. I won't be running more than 2 video cards and ideally i would like 10 SATA 3 ports.

 

Current alternatives i'm looking at are

 

MSI Z87 GD65 (Only 8 Sata though)

ASRock Z87 Professional

 

Current Rig (Ongoing Build)


Spec:- 4770K | GTX 780 | 32Gb 2133Mhz Vengeance Pro | CaseLabs TH10 | 2 x 840 Pro RAID 0 | 3 x 3Tb WD Red RAID 5 | Maximus VI Formula | LSI MegaRAID 9271

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

CPU: AMD 3950x Mobo: MSI B550 RAM: 32GB DDR4 GPU: Asus 3080 Strix PSU: Superflower Leadex 3 720w Case: BeQuiet 500DX

Storage: 2TB SSD + 4TB HDD Audio: SMSL 793ii -> HiFiman HE-400 + Mission MS-50 Speakers
