Hello All

Ive been browsing around attempting to find an 8gb kit of ddr2-800 to upgrade an older machine with, and i've come across many kits on eBay, which advertise to only be compatible with AMD motherboards, and that it cannot support Intel boards. The listing makes the claim that this is because the ram is "High Density" Below is an excerpt of the eBay listing, which is as usual in poor pigeon english that makes it hard to understand.

Difference of this item

  • All high density 1GB modules are made with 16 chips (8 chips on each side) using 128MX4 device.

  • All low density 1GB modules are made with 16 chips (8 chips on each side) using 64MX8 device.

  • The item is high density and it can not work in any intel cpu  motherboard. It only support AMD chipset motherboard.
  • Not work with All DELL,IBM,Apple,HP,Compaq,Gateway,Acer.Lenovo,Emachines,Packbell Computers.

The ram is Samsung branded, and checking the model number on Samsung's website shows nothing to suggest that it is only compatible with AMD, which leads me to believe that eBay sellers make this stuff up so they can sell their so called "Intel Compatible" RAM at a higher price, or am i speculating a bit too much here.

Cheers

Andrew

I've been meaning to test out a single 4GB stick of that high density RAM on my P5Q Deluxe (16GB support), but I just haven't gotten around to it. I think its a hit and miss kind of thing as to whether it works or not.
