Hello everyone,

I'm currently using the fractal design define r4 case and I love it. I'm using a SLI config so I wanted some more airflow but didn't hve much money at the time.

So i bought 3 cooler master long life blue led fans and hooked them up to the integrated fan controller of the r4.

I still find them to be far too loud and I'm looking for some replacement fans.

Anu suggestions?

So far I've looked at corsair af140 quiet editions and the fractal 140mm quiet editions.

If possible blue led in the fan would be nice :)

Thanks in advance!

Fractal fans are alright if you sit them on 7v. Try something from the likes of BeQuiet, Noiseblocker or Noctua, They are pretty much the best in the business in terms of silent fans :)

thanks alot! Looking at those brands right now. What do you think of the corsair F140's (quiet edition)?

I cant say many blue LED quiet fans except maybe the bitfenix spectre pro's but I would say Noctua if you don't mind the colour or don't mind waiting for the black ones or the SP120's

i don't like the noctua colour :( used to have a nh d14 but it bothered me so much i bought a h80. The bitfenix ones i've been looking at aswell but are they realy quiet? And is the blue led bright?

Also would you guys go for blue led fans, or no led fans and led stip? (Bitfenix alchemy)

Surely it doesn't matter what colour the fans are if your running them in an R4 that doesn't have a window. In my opinion the bitfenix spectres and the bequiet silent wings fans are almost inaudible. I have them on my cpu cooler in fact the nosiest thing in my case is my mechanical drive haha.

also do you recommend the bitfenix fans to be pwm or not?

Fair enough haha. I can see where your ocd on design comes from then.

The PWM wont fit on the R4's fan controller if you'r still looking to use that, and If you aren't then you'll need enough 4 pin headers on your motherboard to utilize the rpm control of it. the standards should be fine, just hook them up to the front panel fan controller and you can flick them to 5, 7 or 12 volts and leave it be :)

thanks alot! Are they quiet at 12v tho?

Both, the AF120's are decent, but have a shocking ticking noise to them which only gets worse when you undervolt them, and SP's are just too loud at 12v then also develops the tick once you undervolt it. I just tend to shy away from their fans in general.

I have two SP120s in the front of my case. I barely hear them at 12v constant running. Then again, I have a fan in my room that's louder. But even when that's off, I barely hear my SP120s.

They aren't terrible by any means, but fans that cost the same are generally alot better.

Eh, for the cost, I haven't found any better. 2 SP120s are the same as one 120mm Noctua.
