Quick-fire decision: dual graphics!

Go to solution Solved by Dzzope,

Then save your cash and spend when you need to... price to performance always gets better.

Thew 270x will only get cheaper, new cards will be released.. buy the time you need a new GPU or a boost.. you could sell your card, add the 60 EUR and possibly have a single card that runs faster (or close to them) but without the possibility of CF issues / bad scaling and so on..

I always advise " buy what you need now (or KNOW you'll need soon) and worry about 6 months away in 6 months (or whenever)

Hi y'all!

I have a Asus R9 270x 4GB and someone is offering me the chance to buy a sapphire R9 270x 3GB second hand and I'm playing around with the idea of adding it to my system. 2 questions:

- check out my system in my profile page; will my PSU be able to carry that in load conditions?;

- is it actually possible (AND WORTH IT) to connect the two in a dual graphics configuration?

Thanks a lot!

If you can get it very cheap like $60 and below then yes if it's any more then no way.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

There is no offer yet. The guy is selling his PC really cheap because he "bought from the shop and it can't play dayz properly" and the only thing I want is the graphics card, just because it can be cheap and could be an opportunity for cheap dual graphics. Didn't check anything like prices or anything...

That really depends.. If the game works with CF and you have to turn down settings or get low FPS, then yes, it'll make a difference.. If your games run smooth at High or Ultra settings or CF doesn't work for that game, you'll see little / no benefit.

And, in a "future-proof" kind of context, will the performance improvement be worth it in the long run? Imagining that I now would by it for 60€?

Because the thing is, there is no one game that I play now more than others, and if there is it's WoW. I know, I know, WoW is not the Witcher 3, but imagine that in the future I want to play other games...

Thanks!

Yeah, if the performance boost is not so big, then indeed, I'll save my money for something else.

Cheers!

Now, don't misunderstand what I said... you need to decide for yourself if your happy with your current performance.. or if you would like it to be better..

try max the settings out.. If you like the effects and would want to play with them max'd (or closer to it) and your getting low FPS that makes the experience poor, then it's worth it..

My point is, you need to judge if it's the right thing for you, in the games you play, at the resolution you play at, at a quality setting your happy with and smooth as you want it.

Actually.. the best thing to do would probably be to try it if your friend is willing to let you..

Stick it in your rig.. see if you notice the difference and then decide if it's worth your money.. Not everyone gets the chance to try before they buy, your in a privileged position.
