VGA converter

Hello all.

 

About a week ago i bought a r9 290 Vapor-x, with 2 DVI-D, 1 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort. And here ill say i know i need an upgrade, but didnt plan that until later, but my monitor is a VW222S, an old ASUS monitor max res 1600x1050, that only got VGA, So i been reading about all the converters for VGA, mainly the DVI-D to VGA, some places it seems like they say they work while other places say they dont, so after alot of reading i didnt learn anything.

 

So my question is, will it work, or would i be better off getting a HDMI to VGA or DisplayPort to VGA, if any of them works that is, and for those last 2, since they also carry sound, would i be able to just change that in sound settings, so i get the sound to USB headset?

 

Havnt been able to test anything yet, since i need to wait until payday so i can get a better PSU, since my sure my unknown 500W PSU will have a hard time if i tried with that, so i thought i would use the wait time to get some more info here.

The 290 and 290X don't have analog outputs anymore for some reason, so you'll have to find an active adapter.

For a 290 or 290X, get a DisplayPort-to-VGA cable, those will still work.

Oki, thanks for the reply, and they seem to be cheaper then the DVI-D to VGA converters i been looking at, so i might even save a bit.
