I own a legit copy of Windows 8.1, I didn't get the "Get windows 10" icon so I checked why.

Apparently Windows Updates didn't work on my pc for the last two months (I did set it to auto). I tried to update windows manualy but when I press "search for update" its just tells me "Searching for updates" and nothing happens, even after an hour.

My update history doesn't show any windows update in the last couple of months, only the windows defender updates (every day or two).

Windows crushed a few times in the last month so it is a problem that I have to fix, I lose work every time that happen.

Its a half year old computer, i5 4460, r9 270x, h97m-hd3 if it does help.

I got Windows 8.1 on my laptop (probook 4540s) as well and the update center works just fine, I really have no idea whats sup..

There is any way to download updates online using the browser?

Hey,

First of make sure your time and date are correct for your region, if that is out too much Windows Update will not work.

If that does not work follow this from MS :

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/971058

Let us know how you get on

Regards

Ed

Thank you Ed for the replay.

Unfortunately that doesn't work for me, I tried to copy all the cmd commends to a bat file (aside for the windows xp and vista commends). I run the file as an admin and at first it seemed to be working but then the errors spree started, got that error for:

mshtml.dll

shdocvm.dll

browseui.dll

qmgr.dll

XVTJ03f.png

For:

msxml.dll

gpkosp.dll

sccbase.dll

and about 5 more I got this error

OXHMi0x.png

Translation (for last row): The specified module could not be found.

And when I tried to install the windows update agent right after I got that error:

dYFETYU.png

Translation: The update is not applicable on your computer.

Looks like its just not the fix for me :(

Maybe I can get windows 10 from microsoft site once its out using my key, I might just upgrade Windows to fix the problem. That will suck though, downloading my 300gb of software once again.
