Focusrite 2i2 or dedicated DAC

I have recently purchased a pair of a5+ speakers because they were second hand for £155. I wanted t get better quality audio out of my PC as my motherboard sound card is terrible. I didn't know wether to buy a dedicated DAC or buy and audio interface with monitoring such as the 2i2 as it would allow me to expand my setup in the future with a decent mic. The focusrite 2i2 is cheaper than some DACS ,for example the audioengine d1. I was wondering how good is the inbuilt DAC in the 2i2. I have a budget of around £100. I will mainly be listening to music now.

I'd go for the Focusrite. You'll definitely get better than onboard if it's as bad as you say, and you can expand your setup down the line.
