Maybe pick up a 980ti or a amd fury?

if 1080, I'd be tempted to stick it out 1 more gen.. unless your seeing noticeable lack of frames at acceptable settings.

What res? Multiple monitors?

If 1080p Go with a 970, and if 3 1080p go SLI 970 or 980ti

If 1440p Go with 980ti or 390x even,

If 4k Go Fury, 980ti SLI or Titan X. Fury or 980ti SLI is best though.

1080p@144hz

970 should be enough for games that need the high frames and in everything else (GTA V etc) it'll still push good frames.

 

980Ti for 1440 or more (really 1440@144hz or 4k)

 

My opinion, you can still go for it if it's what you want... But I'd wait for AMD benches of the new card to be announced / released tomorrow (if they have stock for sale it's a launch, if not it's an announcement)
